I was in Atlanta last month an purchased a roll of cents from a cashier in one of the local stores. I was hoping for a roll of 2012-P cents because I saw both ends were shinny. After getting to my son's house I found a 1902 Indian had cent in good condition. I then went to the bank and purchased two rolls of the coins I was after.

Two weeks later my son received a 1936 nickel in change in the same area. I think it might be a good idea to visit him a little more often.

    1970 no S dime

Been going through a lot of dimes and nothing good, but I believe I found a 1970 no S dime. How much would it be worth and should I go to a store get appraised ? Closest city that I would trust is like 2 and half hours away so the trip would have to be worth something. Let me know what you all think : D

Unless it's a Proof dime, which it doesn't look like it is, it's worth .10

How would one tell if it is a proof dime ?

It's not a proof, If it was proof it would be more shiny and reflective.

This is what is turning me off from searching. There is another board (TN) that I used to read once in awhile and I would see people posting similar numbers. I live in central NJ and my half finds have TANKED. It may not be because of the guy you mention but maybe it is.

I think part of the blame rests on the banks too. Unless of course he is picking up 5 boxes from 10 different banks. It's just too bad. I admit that I search halves for the silver like most others but I do love the collecting aspect of it. I have my Kennedy, Franklin and Walking Liberty Dansco's that I am trying to fill. There's nothing more beautiful than those Walking Liberty halves. No matter what condition the Walkers and Franklins I find, they go into a 2x2 and into a binder.

It's the people that do 50 boxes a week that are going to make searching halves a waste of time. Unless you are looking for only moderns.

No offense, but if your credit isn't good enough for a bank with millions or billions of dollars sitting around at 0% interest to loan it to you, what makes you think that a private person should take that risk with what is considered by most to be a substantial amount of cash? And how do you plan to get the coins in the first place since you say you don't want to use your car? How many hours a week do you plan to spend for a gross profit (to you after paying your investor, not including your other expenses) of about $30 per week?

He doesn't want to get a loan on his car

I didn't even consider that. Do banks actually loan money on a car you already own?
