by law i believe they have to mint 1 for every 3 pres $'s. i think they only come from the mint, the banks don't get them

They were only minted for circulation 2000-2001, they now have to be ordered from the mint, banks can't get them from the mint.

From 2002-2008 they were for sure NIFC, just like the halves. I'm not sure about the revolving reverse ones, however.

The easiest ways to get them are a) banks, b) vending machines, or c) getting change when buying stamps at the post office.
By the way, did you really expect them to circulate? The dollar bill is still dominant when 100 cents is due. Don't count on a halt in production of the paper dollar, that would make way too much sense!

Well, my local bank has like 40 dollar coins each time I "visit" so yes I do expect them to circulate if they released them

There's a ton of new Sacs at my local bank, along with plenty of Presidential and SBA's (and a few scattered Ikes). I buy $20 to $30 worth a week and drop them into circulation. I've never had a store give them a second glance. I even dumped a few 2012 Sacs with this reverse into circulation:

Actually, along with the 2000-2001 mintage, the 2009-2011 Sacs were minted and released into circulation. I get these all the time at the bank, and they have the date as part of the edge lettering. Both 2012 Sacs and Presidential dollars were only minted for collectors.

You really should take a trip to a coin shop. No offense, but I think it would be an enlightening experience.

I have been to many coin shops, just have no interest if I can't get them of face, asked a coin shop today and he didn't have any. And I do take offense

Well, a coin shop won't be in business long if they sell coins at face.
