So I want to start a new set but am unsure where to begin. I still have one more half for my type set (a bust). Aside from that I'd like to move on to a cheaper, more fun type that doesn't feel stressful due to cost lol. And these coins also have variety vs. Buying 15 of the same coin. I was thinking about the presidential dollars but they are being discontinued (thoughts on that). I was also thinking the atb series but was also thinking I'd wait until they stopped and buy them all at once. Also the dollars I don't have, sac, eisenhower, etc. All and all anyone have any thoughts on completing modern coinage? I'm just normally a Pre 1950 collector so this new stuff is new to me lol. Like wise, any suggestions on a grade range and or mint to shoot for? I'm just not well versed in coins I can just pick up at the bank so not sure what to look for or how to go about it.

Thanks all, while the advice isn't always necessarily needed it's always nice to get opinions.

If you want variety, then you may like the modern commemorative silver dollars. There is no need to buy each in proof as well as mint state and many can be had for little over their melt value. Therefore, you get to build a modern type set consisting of many designs and can still accumulate a silver bullion stack with numismatic interest.

i agree. i have seen more then a few dealers start throwing them into the morgan/peace pile. they are usually still in their capsules as well so they are still nice coins. other then some in the late 90's and the buffalo in 2001 they are fairly easy to find/affordable

Kind of a face value idea would be the state quarters from circulation finds. Maybe stopping by the bank every so often and getting some rolls to go though.

So here's what I've determined. I'm going to pick up an Ike and a Susan and Sac to round off my dollars. Then a Washington dollar to get me started on the presidents. The atb I'll still wait on like I did with the states.

Suggestions and thoughts are still welcome.
