Hello All! I am new to the site, and stumbled across it while looking for information about my shilling. My grandfather and father collected coins. We lost my father tragically at a young age, and after his death my grandfather gave me a small bag of my dads coins. They have been in a plastic bag in a trunk for almost 31 years now. I pulled them out a week ago, out of curiosity. Through my research I have found that most of my pieces are worth their silver weight, but this piece is so complicated. I understand that a person (Noe) identified many versions. I also understand that there were counterfeit versions (which were from the same time frame) and reproductions or 'Fakes'. I know that it's not a recent repro, cause like I said, I have had it for 31 years and have no idea how long my dad had it before he passed away. I am posting several pics from multiple angles and eagerly anticipate feedback.

I'm sorry to read that your father passed at a young age.

The piece you have is a copy and these were made by the thousands from the 1950s into the 1970s and were sold at historic sites, through magazine ads and in shops. It is likely not silver and has a commercial value of a few dollars, but of course the family history it represents is worth more than that.

PS: It is best not to handle coins, medals and tokens as you show. Rather, hold them with your fingertips along the edges.

Thank you for your advice. I do remember how we often visited museums, historical sites, especially Forts, could be from one of many places then. I did forget to include that it is around 26mm, not magnetic, but I don't have a weight.
