I bought this coin graded by one of the "other" grading companies. Fortunately, I didn't pay for the grade. Could you guys help me figure out what it would probably grade for with PCGS? I'll let you know how Star Grading graded later! As always, your help is appreciated. Little bit of wear I see. Big old gold coins get a pass on a lot of things, however wear isn't one of them. AU-53. Bone
I'd say XF40 at best. When wear is bad enough that it has worn down the letters in LIBERTY you can't really justify a higher grade.
OK, guys, we are getting lower and lower- next one going to be "Barely Recognizable"? HaHa. At any rate, I'm glad I only paid $30.00 over spot price for it. I also saw the wear, and knew it would probably come back in a body bag from a "real" grader. I only bought it for the gold anyway. If gold gets back up to $650 spot, I've made money! Here's the SGS photo: http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l190/tedbylar1/GradedEagle.jpg Thanks for all of the opinions! Ted
That must be the FIRST and ONLY SGS graded coin lower than MS70!!!!!!! From my slow internet connection I would also grade what I could see XF. Just because it has wear doesn't mean it will get a Body Bag...only coins that are damged...cleaned...faked and such will be body bagged. Speedy
I am going to go with the XF.. I do question if its been cleaned though. Looks funny around the date and stars.
I'm gonna say xf45. I just hope it is genuine. I wouldn't trust SGS to be able to spot a fake under any circumstances.
