Maybe if the Lincoln portrait could be removed from the surrounding wooden looking plaque cause that thing is hideous and looking, as if a first year wood working student made it.
If I could afford it? YES. Its on my to-get list before I die. Want one to hang on the wall. Beautiful pieces. Don't know how many originals there are (very few from what I understand) but still nice.
I like the plaque, not the frame...but I don't nearly $500 like it. LOL That much green would buy a VERY nice Lincoln cent for my collection.
I just bought a nice VF25 PCGS 1914-D Lincoln for $407. Um, lemme think, NO! BTW there are more of these Lincoln plaques -- the full-size ones, not this tiny thing -- around than generally thought, and most of them are much larger than 2.5 x 3.5 inches. The Brenner plaques I have seen/handled are about 6 x 8 inches. Some of them have a greenish onyx-type frame around them. Here's one from a Heritage auction a few years back, but you can find others there as well: http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=1100&lotNo=28101 Best Regards, :hail: George
i personally like the frame and would not change it. its folk art. it is supposed to look like it was done by a person "un-trained" in the said medium.
I like it, including the frame. The chipping along the left side of the plaque on the frame, would however, limit my interest and would make me a little leery of paying that much for it.
These are pretty neat and I've wanted one for awhile, but every time I think of purchasing one, I buy coins instead
