Not the most beautiful coin, but interesting. The reverse has odd marks (scrape marks???) across the top (PCGS still graded this MS65RB) ... but in any case, the obverse luster is great, and there is some cool color across the bottom. Almost looks like Mr. Lincoln is wearing a pink velvet smoking jacket -- and some nice green color near the rim from about 4 to 7 o'clock. I recall reading a long time ago that spent WW2 shell casings were melted down and used in 1944 and 1945 Lincoln Cents. So it's kind of amazing to think where some parts of this Lincoln Cent might have been (France? Germany? Pacific Theater?)
My birth year - I was in diapers for the June 6th Normandy landings. My father was in the Pacific preparing for the Phillipine invasion. What a year!
