I just wanted to post a thread about key date coins. Right now I'm thinking about saving up for a VF-ish 32-D Washington quarter. What do you guys think. If you want to show off a nice key date coins you recently gotten I'd love to see them.
    Thank you

Personally I think you might just wait another couple weeks and save up for an XF - the price doesn't really start jumping until it hits AU. I got mine (ANACS AU50) using money I made from half dollar roll searching - so in reality, I only spent a fraction of the cost to get it. But they seem to be pretty available - so you should find some with some looking. I'd keep an eye out on the CT For Sale section - I just picked up a sweet deal on a nice 1921 D Mercury Dime (PCGS AU50.) I can post photos once it arrives.

Many of the famous 20th century "key date" coins are actually quite common and readily available. Therefore, one can afford to be extremely picky about the quality and can be patient since there will be another coming down the road shortly. This is especially true for the 1909-S VDB Lincoln, 1937-D three-leg Buffalo, 1916-D Merc, 1932-D and S WQs and 1921 WLH.

To a point, you are correct. But some of the coins you list are out of reach for many of us in almost all conditions.
As for the mintmarked 1932 quarters, they are a tad more reasonable. I went to a show a few years back planning on buying one of them (pre-children years), and ended up with some higher end Morgans instead. I do feel that the 1932 quarters are still an outstanding deal though, and am still in the market for them; after my last child is out of diapers, of course!
