sorry for the crappy cell pics. i left my camera at a cook out at mom-in-laws house yesterday. wondering is this is us minted? and if so, where?
Honestly I'm not sure but I don't think so. Mainly because there is no value printed on the coin and any coin I've seen minted by the US mint has a face value on it. Also I don't see "In God We Trust" or "E Pluribus Unum" on it either.
Well sure, it's not a US Mint issue. But the OP asked if it was US-minted. And I would imagine that it is minted in the US. By who, I do not know. Franklin Mint maybe?
thats what i thought, but while looking for it on ebay this popped up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1976-Thomas...990?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4169010dc he said they made them in '74. i didnt buy it, mom-in-law gave it to me yesterday, so im not out money on it or anything. at least it's 90%.
It is in fact one of four or five different issues minted by the US Mint in Philly for the bicentennial. Here's what the original packaging looks like.
i had two of the golds. i didnt put the connection together. my second thread on this site i posted a pic of the slver medals still in ogp that i sold shortly afterwards. my mom-in-law must have gotten it before my wifes uncle died.
