To tell the truth, you guys don't look all that old either. I guess we are all young when it comes to the hobby. Maybe I can buy the lobster this Jan.

As best I can remember, I started about 1953/1954. I can remember reading about a major mistake they made on the 1955 Lincolns and looking long and hard for one - but I never found one.

Yak, Kirk - I quit collecting because I discovered that it was not the coins themselves but rather the study of the coins that I truly loved. And yes, I sold my entire collection, did it twice actually. Like most people I collected US coins from the time I was a kid. But then when I saw that prices were getting so expensive that it was hard for me to buy the coins I wanted, I sold my US collection and switched to collecting world coins, which were a bargain at the time. Then later, I sold my world collection too.

    It was worth it :p

    Works for me ;)

Started in 1974 with art bars. Somewhere
along the way I picked up a Franklin half, I think
from New England Rare Coin Galleries.

Well I'm glad that you still have the passion Doug. Surely this would be a far different forum without you keeping everyone in line. This one is for you.

Probably about 1954/5 when I used to go through the cash register at the restaurant where we would often eat supper. Dang I wish I had all those now!

Probably since I got my 1st coin, which was silver and 66 years older than me, at the age of about 7-8. Ever since I kept all the foreign or unusual coins I managed to get during next 20+ years, without even thinking about collecting or learning about them. Started actively collecting 4-5 years ago, thanks to eBay.

Since I was 12. Well, that is when I started buying and selling coins, a few years before the silver went out of coins. I think I was a collector before then but really can't remember. 51 years ago now.
