I initially started collecting back in the fifties, dropped out for the military, came back and saw that my collection was dismantled and scattered. So life got in the way. Picked it up a couple of years ago and trying to make some headway. I have 7 collections going but with multiple sets for different coins split between proof and circulating coins. Proof because they are nice looking and circulating because I can pick them up for face. Basically the best of both worlds. Still trying to understand the nuances between DDO's and other varieties and feel that I am loosing the battle of understanding but not patience.

No he doesn't, at least not when he's sitting next you I started collecting in 1960. I stopped collecting in 2006. But I still study and try to learn about coins, will never stop that
Since my dad came back from Vietnam with a whole bag of Vietnamese, Australian, Singaporean, and Japanese coins that he had accumulated during his tour there. Still have most of them and the MPC's and Vietnamese currency too.
I've seen some of the pictures you've posted of past triumphs and they are spectacular! :bow: Just wondering (if you care to share)...why did you stop? I think I recall you saying that you didn't just stop collecting, but actually sold off some amount of your collection. Personally, I have a mental disease...I'm a coin addict. I can't imagine ever having the self control to stop without going completely cold turkey.
Why did you stop Doug? I heard that you don't even own any coins anymore. How could such a knowledgeable person just sell off 46 years of collecting? Sorry Yakpoo, we must have been typing at the same time, great minds...
