50 years and loved it . I am one that collects just for fun and to own a part of history. Dont collect slab coins but love the older worn coins and today my coins would be hard pressed to be worth 1000.00. I do it for the fun not the money and i have fun with it. I say to each his own collect it your way.
I knew that........thought you'd been collecting for so much longer than you say, though. Knowledge oozes from one oh so young.....
My family has be collecting since the 1870s. I have collected for 32 years, since I was four years old.
It's just clean living guys. Coffee an vodka only. I hit 55 back in July. My favorite number. That makes me a 1957 model. About 1962 one of my favorite uncles came to live with my family. We sorted Lincoln cents for years. Today I wonder where he came up with them all. He may have traded the bag but I'll bet I sorted the same bag several times. Sure kept me busy. At age 10 I worked in the cash room at S H Kress for my dad. I got to roll all the change. He had to fire me for being too slow and wanting to take home more Lincolns than my allowance would cover. I think I got about a dollar a week in those days. A few years later I was working in the cash room for TG&Y, again for my dad. Had the same problem. My allowance would not cover what I wished to take home. It's been fun.
I couldn't think of a good word to describe collecting coins for pleasure but looking at them every day. "Serious" is just so darn serious
