Okay this thread is very simple and very fun. Look at the photos below and vote for which photo you like better. If you feel so inclined, tells us your reason for your vote. No right or wrong answers!

Since you asked us to vote for one photo or the other, I'd have to vote for the 40-S because the lighting seems better. However, if I were voting for either coin, I'd have to go with the 39-D because Jeff's face looks cleaner and that scratch/gouge in his hair on the 40-S bugs me.

I like them both, Paul, but pressed to pick one over the other, I like the color of the 39 better. I'd think it's just lighting, but I think that the color looks more natural and original

I voted for the 39 as well. I would describe the colors as a champagne rose patina for the 39-D and silver-blue hue for the 40-S. Both coins are magnificent in hand and the photos really don't do the coins justice. I also think the 39-D photo is sharper.

I like the clear "nickel" color on the 40-S over the 39-D. I'm not really interested in UNC toning.

I voted for the 39, the nick in the hair on the 40 is driving me nuts.

I'm in the minority, I just like the look of the 40 better.

I think you are asking which COIN we prefer. There is significantly more detail on that 39.

I'm assuming the lighting is the same, so I like the color of the 39, even though it appears grainy. They are both very nice, and excellent photos.

I chose the 40 for image quality. The light seems to be distributed better. There is less shadow at 12 and 9 o'clock.

The color on the 39 got my vote.

Voted for the 39-D, but honestly I do not know if the coin just looks better in the picture or if the picture is better. It just seemed to me it showed better details - or better strike. Not sure if I voted for coin or picture.

Better strike, way sharper details and better color on the 39D. Not that the 40s is bad by any means :) but the 39 is definately the superior coin.
