    Two fakes? & one token.

They all appear to be poorly made fakes. Heck, you can even see the word "COPY" in the bright pink area of the "token".

I wouldn't even say they're "fake," necessarily. I'd call them fantasy pieces. Particularly that 1865 Washington dollar...

    1) Copy of a US pattern (J-1626 comes to mind, but I am probably as wrong as the coin)
    2) Novelty/fantasy piece
    3) Anti-slavery/abolitionist token knock off.

I'll hold on to these just for the fun of it and wow , what a way to start off a coin collection .This encourages me to
go out there and search for history . Thanx everyone

I would hold on to them and use them as your first test. Get a Redbook of US coins, learn a lot from CT here, and hopefully in 6 months or so you could post a reply to this thread stating WHY each of these items are fakes, and how you can tell. :)

Education is knowledge with collectibles, especially with coins.

    Good luck!

I couldn't agree more with you medoraman, I'll buy a book and try to find out what makes these coins fake. I'll come back with details as soon as I find out. I thank everyone here for their answers, and inspirations to search for them.

Books you are right on it being a copy of J-1626 . This pattern was issued in 1879, not 1878.

I stand corrected, It's actually a copy of US pattern J-1563 and J-1564 issued in 1878.
