Can someone please inform me on what these coins were used for and what they are worth? I have been doing research on them and I found a site that said there is a lot of counterfeit out there is this true? and how do you tell? I found someone that is selling them and he doesn't know anything about them and asked me to help him figure it out. Thank you for your time!! :) They are Magnetic. and weigh around 20 grams.

    Hi Kdew73
I am by no means an expert in this type of coinage but i have learned a few things browsing the forums in CT !
You mention the coins are magnetic: that could be a sign indicating these coins are fake. Normally they should be silver which is non magnetic !
Since i am not an expert, please don't desesperate and wait for the Expert guys from CT to enlighten you on the subject !
Even if the coins are fake, you could consider that some people do collect fakes  ( the bug has so many facets you know ..)

Thanks for your input froggycoins :) I was thinking they were fakes too, I found some real ones on ebay and they weigh 26grams and these only weigh 20g. So probably fake. but wonder if they are worth anything hmmmm

Well there are many Chinese counterfeits about. Simply put a magnet to them if they are silver they will not stick. Then weigh them for the correct weight. Finally close inspection as compared to known examples. Some pictures of China fakes I have come across...

Since real Chinese silver coins are silver, this is absolute proof yours are fakes.
Another indisputable proof that they are products of one of the many, many Chinese counterfeit operations.

Value? What are scrap dealers paying these days for steel?
