It pains me that the best looking coin for crispness is scratched. But I am curious if it wasn't for that, what would the value be? The good ole redbook has it down as only 954K minted that year. The last 2 photos are labeled as clean, just so I could tell the difference when posting. No cleaning was done, and never will be.

I'd say both XF-AU Details. Check out www.pcgs.com/photograde for yourself! It's a great tool for accurate grading!
Huh?????? The first is a solid XF-AU details coin, depending on in-hand luster. The second I would call F-VF depending on detail (it does have an almost cleaned look to it, lightly cleaned, but cleaned none the less), the pics aren't the greatest.
I finally got the photograde sight to load, Firefox won't load it for some reason, so now I am getting a better handle on self grading, or a ballpark anyways. As far as any of the coins Ive posted, I havent cleaned any of them, however I can't say my relatives did or did not. If they were cleaned, it had to be before 1982, long story how I know that, but they would have sat untouced since Dec of '82. My next question is, does the scratches deter/subtract value? Or is it all on the rarity of a coin adding value over the eye candy a coin offers. Photograde doesn't have any coins with damage like that to know what to actually call it. I have two Franklin half dollars that in my opinion I would not grade as a MS65, yet there is an example of a NGC MS65 on Teletrade that is in far worse condition (pitted/scratched).
