I was looking at some rolls of "unsearched" half dollars. yeah, I know it is a scam but I usually only bid so that the amount of shipping + the bid exactly equals $10 so if I win one, I pretty much get them at face value so there is no loss. But this seller has written something I really do not understand the significance of.. here's what he says: Do you know what I hate? I hate getting a roll of halfs and seeing a bicentennial or a 1972 Kennedy half showing out on both ends! Therefore, for a limited time (including this auction) I am auctioning off only rolls where an eagle shows on both ends of the roll! Can anyone tell me what the importance is of having an eagle show on both ends?
What the seller is trying to convey is that he always gets disappointed when he sees a Bicentennial reverse (1976) or a common-date 1972 showing on the ends of a roll. He's is selling only rolls that will leave the buyer guessing what may be inside. Chris
Right. If shipped to your door for face or less, go for it, but for anything over $10 just go to the bank. As for "eagles on both ends", it's basically a meaningless sucker bet, most likely aimed at people who will hope they are silver (or will have some silver) and cannot tell the difference simply by looking.
