help with confirmation needed of possible error and varieties Hello recently i have been dormant but vigilant in my coin collecting but in my change not long ago i found what appeared to be a straight clip new hampshire quarter as of below. Next up is a supposed 1970 s small date but its so hard to tell even with being shown things to look for by strike it rich with pocket change book. Then there are two suspected repunched mintmarks i may have for 1983 d and a 1987 d wrpm-011/rpm-006
The quarter looks like a bump to me, and I've also never seen a double clip in those positions, which would be very rare I would think....
The only one I can say for sure is the 70, it's a large date. The rest of them, the pics are too small.
The quarter appears to be a bump (PMD) The 70S cent is definitely a large date The 83 & 87 cents both have what is a image caused by the gasses in the planchet that are compressed during stamping. It is a very common thing and not considered doubling.
That's the pics we need.:thumb: :smile But unfortunately, not a variety. That's split plate doubling, very common and no premium.
Why does the apparent second "D" look to be shiny grey then? and i cant help but think it looks more defined then most of the plate split doubling i have looked up and to contrast to the other split plate doubling ive seen this one is raised.
Iit is the plating that has split and the zinc is showing through. This is common on the zincolns of the 80's and 90's.
Damn . I guess researching more of it you both are right. Least now i know not to get my hopes up so high so soon. But eh I shall continue to search.
