    A first!!!!!!!

    On the positive note:

I did a box of nickels Saturday as well. No war nicks, but I found my FIRST EVER V nickel from circulation!!!!!! :hail:

It is an extrememly worn and beat up 1911, but it was still a thrill to find it. :D

I have now found from circulation, one or more of:
    Buffalo nickels
    V nickel
    Mercury dime
    Franklin half
    WL Half
    Barber Half

My next goal is to find my first Indian Head cent from circulation. Of course, I'd love to find a barber dime as well, but I imagine that will be harder than the IHC.....

There is blatant abuse from some people who order seemingly countless boxes of coins from their banks. It is not free for banks to have boxes of coins shipped into them and trust me when I say that bank managers take note of their outgoing costs to have coins delivered. This is especially true for ordering an obscure denomination such as halves. These costs may also be noticed at corporate headquarters of banks in either monthly or annual audits and expense reports. The next thing you know a memo is sent out and the game is over. Those who have made a literal career out of ordering 5-6+ boxes of coins per week mining for silver should start looking for a new line of work as it is just a matter of time before you're given the pink slip. My advice is that if you're young, go to school and do something productive for society. If you're old, retire and celebrate by going on a cruise to Hawaii, Tahiti or the Caribbean, etc.

Of course, that would be awesome, but I just doubt that would ever happen these days...

Just to let you guys know, coinstar is having a promotion right now where if you turn in $20 and select to be paid with an amazon gift card, you get $5 free amazon MP3 credits. I know I never use coinstar, but I turned in 2 x $20 quarters and got 2 codes, and both were accepted by amazon. Also, there is no fee if you choose to be paid with a gift card.

For those who buy bags from the bank. Are you searching for silver or errors. Or both? Don't coin counters spit silver out? So they don't go in bags? Some of my tellers said it could be possible to sell me a bag. But I don't wantto search through nothing.

not many coin machines take silver out, so if a bank is willing to sell you a bag of a certain denomination, I'd go for it. If you search a few bags and nothing turns up, then the machine may be taking silver out. With silver the way it is, I'd say there are sadly more people looking for silver for a profit than collecters who search for their collections. I'll admit I search halves almost purely for profit, however, I only search a box a month.

I bought some CWR rolls of dimes from the bank today and one of the rolls had 11 silver dimes inside of it with dates ranging from 1954-1964. This is the first time I have bought a roll that had a concentration of older coins like this, let alone silver. The cool thing is that I still have 14 more rolls to go through that I bought from this bank today so there could be other rolls such as this one.

Update: I just went through another roll which had 4 silver dimes (dates 1954-64 as well). I think I've hit paydirt today. I'm going to go through the other rolls gradually to enjoy the moment.

I'd be busting through those like a kid in a candy store. What's the newest date you've found in those rolls?

    Box of dimes; 2 roosies

Box of nickels; dateless S-mint buffalo.

its probably been asked. but do you just ask for CWR's??
would all of their rolls, if not sealed on both ends, be customer wrapped? ive had some banks just give me sealed rolls. I guess they dont CWRs in?

I may be wrong, but I think banks will only accept and sell CWR's if they don't have a counting machine. If you get sealed/ crimped rolls, I would assume that particular bank has a coin counting machine.
