IMG_3089[1].jpg IMG_3039[1].jpg the T and E match the cherrypickers guide pics. the T has the same lump at the bottom left, and the E the same humps as the pics in the book.

Thanks Riff. Your first pic, I still cannot tell, but you second pic looks promising. On your example pic up top, look at the "dot" on the left side of the E. Notice how it is not round, but more oval. The 48 and 59 DDR have this characteristic. On your pics, I am not seeing that. You are the only one who has a good look at it and can tell me. In the cherry pickers book, this characteristic is very prominent. Let me know what you see.

no. its more rounded. that is the only difference. there is moderate separation on EPU, and everything else looks exactly the same.

Hmmm, I don't know what to tell you. Whenever I come across coins of typical varieties that I am unsure of, I always put them aside so I can periodically look at them later.

For years I was convinced I had a 1960 DDR Franklin. Every so often I would look at it and each time I was less and less convinced that I had one.....that was until I actually saw one, then I realized that I definitely didn't have one. Sometimes it just takes time to see these things.

I've only seen one of these in hand myself, and I can't remember which slab it was in.

Riff, I'd say your's is very close, but it's mighty hard to say yes for certain from your pics.

As for the coin....I don't know what to tell ya, but I SURELY see some sort of doubling there. Great EYE!

The '56 001 is supposed to have some doubling on the bell clapper too. Do you see anything there Riff?

no. its not 001. it has thickening just like it and EPU is doubled just like it. the eagle has doubling along the wing tips and tip of beak. notice the difference between the E in united , and the Es in states and america. IMG_3243[2].jpg IMG_3221[1].jpg IMG_3256[2].jpg IMG_3260[1].jpg

I'd say it's worth a shot. Post an update when you get the results. Good luck.
