Today Preston and I would like to say to member Wooleytree for the awesome package that came in the mail today! We were out CRH and got the call that we had received a package, so of course we ran right over to pick it up! We are so grateful for every member's generosity. You guys really don't know how much we appreciate you!
Yes! We like photos, but be sure to hold the coins by the edge. Fingerprints aren't good for coins. Chris
I'm gonna guess he got a roll of wheat pennies, a roll of buffalo nickels, and maybe a couple of IHC ... at least that's what I recall reading in her first post about a week or so ago ... CT never ceases to amaze me with how generous people are with their time and expertise
Lol I did take a photo of the contents. I will post it when we conclude our CRH for the day. We actually had a bank tell us we couldn't buy coins because we didn't have an account. I endearing now call them "lake Edited ~ Forum rules bank" instead of lake city bank. I believe the contents were: several IHP, buffalo nickels, a very nice Lincoln cent on a 2x2 (forgive me I don't remember the year 1937 maybe), a 1964 Lincoln cent from the mint, several dimes: seated liberty and barber. And the much coveted flying eagle cent.
That is one nice haul for Preston, I could just tell by that grin he had gotten something of significance to him. I hope he enjoys them!
I used to hear that. They will open young savers type accounts with minimal amounts of money. Credit Unions are better, gosh, mine even pays 1% more interest for savings accounts held by the under 18 crowd. I buy up to about $1200 in coin a week to search through, lately more and more is coming from my several credit unions that I have opened accounts with. One credit union usually doesn't have coin to sell, but they have a coin machine where I dump it all(paid off the tellers with those infamous boxes of Fruit Gems).
These are the coins sent by wooleytree. He's pretty excited about them. We need to get some more 2x2's so we can properly store them.
Very nice, there's no turning back now. BTW Prestonsmom, if you keep hanging around here, you will soon be a coin collector yourself. These guys have made me start collecting ancients and world coins since I've been here.
That's really awesome...and a great way to start a collection!! I hope he sticks with it, he'll have more knowledge than he knows what to do with soon!!!
LOL I'm probably the reason he wanted to start a collection. I have saved a state quarter collection for each child and one for my husband and myself. Also somewhere in this house I have some Kennedy halves and some Ike dollars. Somewhere :/ I also like to hoard any coin that is different or that I haven't seen before like the new buffalo nickels.
