And here are 2 of the best looking Morgans that I have. I don't want to overflow the forums with 100's of pics yet, just want to get a feel for the best of what I have.

After looking at some that have sold for over $100 on Ebay, I hate to think these are melt weight, especially since they are the best I have.
These along with the others have probably sat since the 40's in a drawer. Thoughts?

Both are quite worn, common, and unfortunately, look like melt value.

Some believe the dark toning to be a distraction, especially on circulated coins; however, I like the pair. Either one might fetch $35+ on the 'bay.

Judging from the condition of both (the '79 appears to have rim damage at 4 o'clock) I'd say they are only worth about melt value. Both are common dates. The 1879 has a mintage of 14,806,000 and the 1899-O has a mintage of 12,290,000.

You are right about the rim damage, not sure how or when that happened, short of me handling it sadly.
I will look at my others, and see if any are of a low mintage year, and post a pic. But like I said, these are the best of what I have. Onwards to the other coins!

And thank you all for the responses :D

They aren't extremely valuable, but they are still nice pieces.

If you don't have one I would recommend the Red Book. Has mintage figures for all denomination U.S. coins.

Common date Morgans--well worn. No specific numismatic value. Melt value only, unless they have some sentimental quality for you,

I can't find any decent ones for melt either! It seems like all the morgans on Ebay go for at least $25, except for the ones with holes or badly damaged.
