Hello all. Very new here. I found this coin and after some research I am still at a loss. Everything I have researched says this coin started being marked (inside the star) with a 58 depicting that it was minted in 1958. The one I have is clearly marked with a 57 inside the star. Does this mean anything? I have the coin (already) listed on an auction site, but was wondering if I am just crazy or if this coin is really worth something. I am trying to post pics so hopefully it will work :) Thanks for any help on this.

I see a lot of people read the post, but does anyone know anything about it? Maybe I am not researching the right places. Thanks again everyone!

Cannot really "say" much here. That coin does indeed have the "1957" authorization date, and the production date (in the star) should be something between 58 and 75. There is also a type with "BA" (Barcelona) instead of the star, but that should be it. In your photos I see a "57" but whether that is an error or some kind of manipulation, I have no idea ...

I have a few of those. It's a 1957(67), wear just makes it look like a 57. as for value, in that condition my Krause lists it as 15 cents.

Thanks Christian. That's basically all the research I have done has said as well. The coin has been in my possession for about 7-10 years. My dad brought it back when he used to travel for work. It has been in a drawer with other foreign coins and I never gave it a second thought. Today I decided to look up a few of the coins to see what I could sell. This happened to be the first one I checked on and I have been stumped ever since. I have bigger photos that really show the 57. I would have no idea how to manipulate a coin to look like a different year but maybe other people do? The number is so tiny it would seem impossible to be able to do so. Hope someone else stumbles across this that might be able to help. Thanks again Christian!

My parents went to Spain about 1979 or so. They brought back handfuls of these pulled from pocket change. Some were AU and in nice shape. I actually thought they were worth something.
But even in nice condition they are only worth 25 cents.
