Odd penny found

I found an odd penny today. It is non metallic, silver color with a copper coating. Very poor condition. I thought it may have been a slug but 1) who would make a penny slug and 2) it has a aoutline of a lincoln head on the face.
As I said, it is in poor conditon.

Anyone have any ideas?

well i am not sure cause like rickmp said you should post a pic. but it kinda sounds like a steel penny.. post pic and you will get more responses.

 

A "non-metallic" penny??? What is it made of? Plastic?
