Pre-Ordering of San Fransisco Coins at US mint!

    Depends on what you want from an investment. I think new mint issues are too risky for an investment - but then again if you hold them long enough I am sure you will make money. The key is how long is long enough. I have already placed my order - but then again I probably would never sell them.

    Exactly right. Many of those who bought mint products in the '60s, '70s & '80s are still waiting.

    Maybe, maybe not. When you consider the time value of money(Decrease in the value of the money due to inflationand the loss of growth of the money if it had been put in an income generating investment.) you may still be in the hole.

    For example in 1968 a proof set cost $5 from the mint. To allow for the time value of that $5 investment you would have to be able to sell it for $93 today. Actual market value is under $10.
