a good price too...http://www.newyorkmint.com/item/Aus-2012-1-oz-Silver-High-Relief-Koala-Proof/236155/48 Looks like another exclusive from Perth Mint for New York Mint. However this time NYM is offering ungraded versions at a very good price.
To each his own, but I think New York Mint/GovMint is 1 of the worst dealers in the business. Their prices are typically much higher than other dealers and their shipping charges are ridiculous. I don't care what they are selling; I still wouldn't buy it. In fact, if they were the only dealer around, I would not collect coins at all.
I have never had a problem with New York Mint (AMS). They take anything back in 30 days. I even had them take something back for a full refund a year and a half later. If a $4000 coin ships for $29.95...I can't imagine any dealer beating that shipping price. Have you mailed a simple Priority Mail package lately? Its expensive. NYM is expensive in some areas...or very competitive when they need to be as well. They also develop many world coin exclusives through Pobjoy, Perth, etc... I enjoy collecting some of the ones with topics that interest me. I am not reselling so the markup does not bother me. Their Smithsonian restrikes are great too. Just got a stunning Port Phillip Kangaroo. Developed by New York Mint and struck by Perth.
That's good you like them. As they say, that's why they make more than just 1 flavor of ice cream, as people have different likes and dislikes for 1 reason or another.
Very true. There are lots of good dealers out there. I would consider NYM more of a collectible corporation since they have Stauer too. My only issue is with dealers that send slabs that are scratched or have stickers on them that leave sticky residue.
