Lady Luck told me she worked her magic again - so when I picked up my box of nickies from the bank I found a '43-P and a 45-S. Forty silver coins in one day with those halves above. Now I am sifting through centavos.

I went through 10 rolls of dimes that were bundled together with a rubber band. Was I miffed when one of the rolls had 48 dimes and two corroded pennies (which were both at the end of the roll, how strange)! I found this 1956D dime a short while later within the same bundle. This is my first silver dime from a roll in a while so this was a pretty good find in my book. It makes up for the two pennies so I will be a nice guy and replace them with two dimes when I re-roll the coins.

    From:Makescents perspective

So I stopped by UNC Walker's with my little man to find UNC opening the second best box underway. Always a Lady says " This is a blast!" UNC, Always, and Makes start the hunt. Joe wants to play catch in the back yard. So, like a good dad, "Lets go" right after I open this roll. The roll opens and out comes a 64. UNC Walker says I got one too. Nice start! Now I am throwing the ball and we get some fun time. We get back to the hunt. I see two nice stacks and say"Find anything else?" YESSIR!! I open the next roll and out comes another. I didn't expect it but with 26 including 23x40% and 3x90%, Oh Yeah. Can't forget Always a Lady's favorite, a 1950P Bengy.

Box of nickels did not give me much. I kept ten coins with mintages of <50 million.

Ordered my first box of halves from the local credit union. Came in today so I picked them up and just finished searching. Unfortunately, no silver. However, there was a 2005 P NIFC in one roll and then the very next roll there was a 2005 D NIFC. Strange coincidence. So...

Box of Halves: Skunk except for 2005 P and 2005 D NIFC

I LOVE that frankie! I remember when I got my first franklin ender the teller put 4 BWRs on the counter and the reverse was showing right on the end like that... I almost lost my cool :p

    Hello:

Thanks for the welcome. I am familiar with all the varieties, MADs, PMDs and machine doubling. I have a number of 1999-P Jefferson nickels that have what one might call machine doubling. However, since I have found more than fifteen of these coins, all EXACTLY ALIKE I am not convinced the 1999-P Jefferson nickel is machine doubled. I know local coin collectors I know think I have great luck with searching. I found another Jefferson 1938-S on Wednesday. Of course it was about a VF30.

I can only say that many of the errors I find are represented in either Cherrypickers or Strike It Rich with Pocket Change photos. I find other errors that are not listed or attributed but are definitely errors. An Example is a 1976-D Roosevelt dime with a full die clash on the front and two complete outline die clashes of Roosevelt on the reverse. There is an example of a 1974-d Roosevelt die clash (single) in Strike It Rich. I do not have an accurate count but I know I have more than 20 strong die clash Roosevelt dimes. I found another one yesterday that is as strong as the 1976, but it is a 1989-P. I have pictured some of my errors on CONECO and the "Monster Triple Die Clash" can be searched on E-Bay (please dont laugh at my rediculously high asking price). Just know that I calculated the asking price on the rarity. A 1974 Roosevelt single die clash in Strike It Rich is vallued at $250+. I think a two die clash is 5 times rarer and a triple die clash would be 10 times rarer than the two die clash variety. Tis only my opinion but at least I have a rational in the calculation.
Anyway, I got 5 rolls of dimes one day and found 10 silver dimes in two of the rolls. Another time several months ago I was shocked to find 3 Roosevelt silvers 2 Mercury's and an 1878 Seated Liberty dime in one roll.

That is an issue with me about error coins. No one wants to give any kind of valuation of error coins. Even PCGS will not value a die clash. I sent a 1983-p strong die clash Lincoln penny and they slabbed it as a MS63RB Clashed Dies (PCGS 24439483), but did not value it or give a population for it. I would have thought PCGS would at least put a population on it since their population counts ONLY take into consideration PCGS coin populations. I would think it would have a population of at least 1.

As I wrote (AND LOST THE TEXT, because of being auto signed out DAYUM I hate when that happens) yesterday I have approximately 1200 Lincolns, 450 Jeffersons, 650 Roosevelts, and 1025 Quarters including 560 statehood quarters errors. These are ALL from searched bank rolls exclusively. I have a number of other error coins which I purchased as rolls on E-Bay that also have errors within them. I bought two rolls of 1955-S bu/unc Lincoln pennies and almost all of them were a combination of doubled 55's filled S's, and doubled liberty or "BIE" Liberty's with a few that have some doubling of the In God We Trust.

Probably for the last 4 months I have been finding many complete rolls of Jeffersons that were mostly au/bu sliders PRE 1965 that apparently a collector or inherited rolls were turned into the various banks around here. So far I have accumulated more than three "bricks" of fine Jefferson nickels.

I have 7 oclock obverse die crack statehood quarters of almost every state, a fairly large number of die chip(s), die clashed, struck thru grease etc statehood quarters. Some of these statehood quarters are quite spectacular. I have an Oregon state quarter that is struck thru grease and details on both the obverse/reverse are missing. The reverse only has "GON" where Oregon should be and the date 1859 (only part of the 8 and all of the 59 remains) just below "GON" is partially missing EPU is almost completely gone. On the obverse "ed states of amer" is visbible, "berty" is visible and In Go We Tru" of IGWT is visible. I have a Hawai"i that has extra die chips that look like three new island chains. One below the big island and two on the right side of "whats-his-face (cant remember Emperior's name, and yes I know its on the coin but I am too lazy to get up and look at it right now). Just weeks ago I found a 1989-P washington with a fully 180 degree rotated reverse. I have more than 20 Delaware quarters with either "spitting horse" or "spitting unicorn" (my title for die cracks from the horses mouth down thru Caesar Rodney and to the rim that also goes up around the head of the horse and continues above making it look like a unicorn), die clash washington curls under horse's belly die chips in "The First State" and two doubled Caesar Rodney's (which are NOT the big money Caesar Rodney doubling).

I am now going to copy this text to the clip board so I do not loose the text as I try to post. Wish me luck.

    Hello.

I've been keeping busy and away from coins as much as possible this summer, but have been unable to avoid going on at least a couple hunts!

Most recently I picked up $100 in halves today and got 1 40%er.

I love the hunt but my area is way toooo dry. boxes are 90% skunk and most days I take to go on a bank run road trip I end up breaking even with the gas expense. I would kill to be able to pull 40+ coins in a day like some of you do.

Welcome to all the Newbies that have joined this summer. :smile

Went through a box of cents today. Couldn't do much else cause of the rain. Anyway, the box gave 8 wheats. Earliest being a '44 S.

Purchased a book, so obviously many holes filled. Nickels were fun! Hope to have as much luck or better on my next box, which I will probably finish before the weekend is over (my 1 year old keeps me busy, so my time is limited, but regardless...havin' fun!).

    Details of my keepers:
    1939, 1940-S (x3), 1940, 1941-S, 1941-D, 1943-S, 1946-S, 1946-D, 1947, 1948, 1951, 1951-S, 1952-D, 1953, 1954-S (x2), 1956-D, 1957-D (x2), 1958-D (x2), 1958, 1959-D (x3)

    4 boxes of halves today.
box 1= 2010 proof. and a 2010, 2009, 2006 coins. and a '72 with some slight toning on it. looked neat.
    Box 2= skunk
    box 3 = 2006, 2005
    box 4 = skunk

sorry, didnt keep track of P,D marks on the newer halves i found.

so ive probably looked through at leat 11-12 boxes. I have only found 1 40%er. Found my first ever proof today.

what gives. seems like some people are finding boxes with tons of silver. I know its about volume and consistency, but 10 dry boxes... hmmmmm
