Suvoth, this is another curiousity worth keeping, that is,if it is a genuine mint error.

Yeah, It really showed up when I scanned it. I could see "something" but I couldn't make out this nearly as well.

Suvoth,it could be a case of a bit of metal or other crap getting in between the dies as the top die was coming down onto the bottom one.

Suvoth,no problem! If I have anything inscribed in Quebecois that I'm trying to get translated,I'll let you know.I've rebuked that Krasnaya Vityaz over that stereotypical French Canadian remark on the Vampire bite thread. He may be a Russian, but he just doesn't understand about race relations.

LOL Thanks Aidan. I've gotten used to it. I'm from New Brunswick, not Quebec :)

Again the pics are a little distorted due to their size but the Her Majesty's mustache appears to be another mark from a counting machine!

Is the mustache incuse or obtuse? If incuse, then it is more than likely a counting machine mark. If it is obtuse, then close-up pics are needed of the damage or error to make a more difinitive analysis.

    I know.

Suvoth,I know you are from New Brunswick, but isn't the French language that is spoken in Canada commonly known as Quebecois?

No..it is not. It's funny, I was almost insulted. LOL! Acadians have their own language all together. A lot of english is thrown in our french and a lot of words are not used in either french so it can be difficult to interact.

Oh, dear, that is quite a mark on the coin isn't it. Not sure what Thalia Elizabeth would think of that. I may have to show her...

So sorry Frank! Didn't see your post :( Here is another pic:

Here's a pic of the chip (with modifications) on what I can see with a maginifying glass. It looks like a chip is taken out to me.

    Suvoth,

Based on what I can see from the pics and your statement, I would guess that it is a counting machine mark (damage)! However, it is possible that it is a Struck Through Error. Much better pics with close-ups of Her Majesty's lip are needed to make a better analysis but even then, the exact cause may be hard to determine without the coin in hand.

Frank,a strike through error produces a ghosting effect.Perhaps there could have been some rubbish getting in between the dies, such as a staple. That would produce a mustache shape.

Mijko0,Ukrainians are very much like Russians to a certain degree.Well, they both lived in what was a Commie country.
