Philly, there is no mintmark. It's less then melt, if you don't count shipping. I don't think you did to bad.
I never said you should melt it... My point is, even in that grade, it will be at least worth melt value... Which is $5.50. I personally think, in that grade, it is worth more as a collectible than it's silver content.
i read some where thses have a melt value at a collectable value. its not going in my silver tube im making a folder with on of every denomination from sitting to modern like a histoy thing. i dont think theres a mint mark he listed all 3. he was also sellin a 1916 d for same price but i like older better. didnt think id win it . to bad its not a proof only 450 were made now the other coin i bidded on are a different story morgans and dimes hopefully i dont win them all unexpectly
It is not bad since the B&M shop I go to charges $7 now for that quarter in that condition. I paid $6 for mine but he said he undercharged since the prices marked are old. For some reason, Ebay gets higher prices for Barbers. You also saved the gas you would have spent to go to the B&M shop.
When they say melt they mean the value of the silver and/or other metals, not that you would actually melt it. The coin's intrinsic value.
With the shipping added, seems like a fair price. I usually end up paying about 7-8 dollars for similar condition Barbers when I can find them at coin shops. Which isn't that often. They are usually worn down flat. Which I'm not interested in for my collection anyway. The dark spot on the side of his head is a little bit of a turnoff but otherwise nice coin.
