I notified the seller of his mistake including identifying it as a draped bust obverse and Reverse of 1797 Reverse. Usually a seller is appreciative if the information and makes corrections. This one is adamant this is a 'Flowing Hair.' But eBay forbids me to contact the bidders and inform them. So I will throw this out there on CT. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140825326542&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123
More like flowing corrosion. I can't tell anything on the coin. I can't believe they have it up to 153.
Wow, great pickup. Since you pointed it out, I can clearly see the double bow matches the double bow on the reverse of '97, not of a '93 wreath cent, but without you pointing it out, I would have never noticed. Mike
Sold for $376. Someone is going to be very unhappy. With a little time I think it might be attributeable but it clearly isn't a 1793. I'm leaning toward one of the 1797's because the highest wave of the hair is so far left compared to the R in LIBERTY.
I agree, I can't believe someone wasted that much money on a coin you can barely see anything but corrosion. May as well take $376.90 and throw it out the window.
That is my impression as well. It's probably one of several varieties of 1797 where the E is cradled by the two peaks of the hair. But I don't think I could tell which one.
Man if I ever go to sell I should list mine on ebay. There may not be a date, but you can see enough to know it is a 1793. I barely paid more than that for mine.
