A little help with a grade

    Hi all, I'm mike and new to the forum. I've been collecting coins for about 15 years now and I finally purchased my first gold coin. I'm great at grading mercurys, lincolins, buffalos, and the like but still learning about gold. I was hoping some of can chime in with your oponions of the grade. Thanks in advance

    First of all welcome to the forum !

    As for your coin, I'm quite concerned that the coin has been messed with. It appears to be an altered date.

    edit - I just can't figure out what else it might have been.

    possibly just re-engraded date when they removed the crud behind it in the field.

    Either way, even if it is genuine, it's a problem coin and ungradeable.

    Hey guys thanks for the opinions. I only paid a little over melt so I am not entirely concerned with the issue. I did add two additional pics thou. Once I removed the coin from the 2X2 I do not see the tooling anymore. Let me know what you think. Thanks again
