Simple and not very attractive design, like majority of other Israeli comem. coins (IMHO). Other coins in that prestigious international competition must have been really ugly if this takes #1 place.
There are many coins from Israel that have attractive designs (sure, IMO ). And those may very well be "simple", like the Jonah coin for example. Admittedly I do not know much about the Vicenza Coin Design Awards, but mints will often mention that when one of their coins wins one, so I guess it is prestigious indeed. (A special one is the Palladio Award for architecture on coins.) This year's awards have not been published yet, so I cannot compare ... Christian
The idea behind this new design I do like - the ribbons alluding to the star on one side and to the flag stripes on the other side. The design itself I am not really fond of. Christian
