Israel wins gold for Olympics coin

    Simple and not very attractive design, like majority of other Israeli comem. coins (IMHO). Other coins in that prestigious international competition must have been really ugly if this takes #1 place.

    There are many coins from Israel that have attractive designs (sure, IMO :) ). And those may very well be "simple", like the Jonah coin for example.

    Admittedly I do not know much about the Vicenza Coin Design Awards, but mints will often mention that when one of their coins wins one, so I guess it is prestigious indeed. (A special one is the Palladio Award for architecture on coins.) This year's awards have not been published yet, so I cannot compare ...

    I kinda like the ribbon twirling forming the Star of David. Kinda cool IMO.

    The idea behind this new design I do like - the ribbons alluding to the star on one side and to the flag stripes on the other side. The design itself I am not really fond of.

    The can also recycle the design for the national ballet!
