I still see this being said on ebay and by dealers once in a while when claiming a OGH coin is DMPL or PL. I know they are wrong and here is some proof:
That photo is a like an entire slab education course: Rattlers, Doilies, OGH's. You even have a coin with one of the gaskets that turned that lime green color. Thanks for posting this Todd. It is so refreshing to be able to read and respond to a thread that is actually about coins again.
I snuck in a few OGH 2 part holders (3rd row from right, 1882, 1883-o, 1885-o) to make it compete. I forgot my 1890-o's in 63dmpl and 64dmpl. Those are great coins Also there could have been 2 more doilies. It is fun to see all the holders at once. Someday I will do a better quality shot but shooting full holders is not my thing.
I hear ya, I suck at full slab photos. E-Bay requires that every certified coin listing have a full slab photo of both obverse & reverse. My slab photos are so bad, I often think that it hurts my sales because they look so different from my close up photos of the coin.
That is quite a set, Todd. It looks to me like you have two of the lime green gaskets.....top row, 2nd from left and bottom row, 3rd from left. I never can under stand why some people (not just coin dealers) have to lie when they're just plain stupid. Chris
Very nice Morgans. I agree completely--I have many that have PL and DMPL designations on OGH slabs. Some dealers would have you believe that their coins are just "not labeled." Guess what? No designation, no PL or DMPL?
Maybe it is a heavy modification of the fact that they did not designate Cameo or Deep Cameo on proof coins in the rattler era.
very nice collection and I hear you on that, I hate when you type MS-63PL on Ebay and slabs will come up that don't have the designation on the label, I mean it's either PL/DMPL or not (learn how to use a ruler lol).
