I recently bought a stash of older money from my grandmother and with it came 2 older Canadian notes -- both 1954; a $1 and a $2 both in circulated condition. I noticed online that the value of these notes is determined by the signatures. I will post pictures tomorrow but I was wondering if you can also tell by the S/N. The $1 is U/P 6199406 & the $2 is V/G 3498935. Also, if they come from like a certain city or something, I always like to know the history of older notes. I realize that Canada no longer produces $1 notes (and I think $2's also?), so either way I think they're neat and I will keep them for a long time.
I can't help with the values but you are correct that Canada does not produce $1 or $2 notes anymore. The $1 stopped about 1987 and the $2 about 1997.
