I found a 1972 Lincoln Penny that appears to be a double die but possibly "the poor man's version." I can see slight doubling on the date (all 4 numbers) but strongest on the 2 and the 9. I've tried to take a picture, but I'm not sure it can be seen well. Any opinions?

Is there any doubling on IGWT?

Is there a separate 'tail' to the 2?

I'd say it's likely MDD - Mechanical Die Doubling, and that means it's considered damage, not the real deal.

No doubling anywhere else... only on the date. You are probably correct that it's MDD. Thanks for the input. If I can find a dealer around my town maybe I'll take in for an "in-person" look.
