Is this a real or fake v nickel error

    1899 v nickel.jpg I came across it when buying a large amount of v nickels it is an 1899 has anyone ever saw anything like this?

    Looks like someone had to stamp a 5 on there for those that don't know Roman Numerals ;)

    And it wouldn't be an error, it's called PMD.

    If you're talking about the 5, that's damage. If it's the issue with what's going on from 1 to 4 o'clock, that might be detached lamination. A view of the obverse may help.

    Depends are you talking about the counter stamp, or the possible lamination peel

    I think the issue in from 1 to 4 o'clock is where they clamped the coin to something when they counterstamped it.
