Hey guys, just wanted to share with you this amazing box of pennies I picked up to coin roll hunt through. I have been CRH'ing for two years and this is the first time I have ever found anything like this. In the $25 box of pennies (Canadian currency as I'm in Canada), I found what appears to be 2000+ wheat pennies from various dates! Some even go back to the teens! I am still in shock and surprised. I put coin roll hunting videos up and have been doing so for quite a while and just added this amazing box to YouTube. Words can't possibly do this justice so I am sharing the link here if you want to see the finds from my first five rolls and the rest of the box! I'll post more videos as I continue to hunt through the rest. Thanks guys, let me know if anyone else has ever found or heard of such a high number of wheats in a box before :).

I've never seen bank wrapped rolls folded over like that on the top.

I have to be honest. My kid and I would have gone through a box like that in the time it took you to make that video the minute we opened up the first roll. You're patient.

We're "sitting" for one of the neighbor's girls, and, after dinner, I logged on, she and I got to talking about what I was doing on the laptop, and I showed her this video. She asked we, "Why does he say, ooot?" She's only seven years old. I told her, "He meant, out. You see, he's Canadian, and they don't know any better."

Well, not exactly, but we were having fun. Nice video, and that's one heck of a box.

These pennies are probably from another coin roll hunter that already went through the box and taken out the good dates. That's why each roll is manually folded over instead of machined rolls, that's what I believe.

Crazy awesome! Congrats man! Keep an eye out for 1909-S VDB, 1909-S, 1914-D, 1931-S, 1917 DDO, 1955 DDO, for most valuable.

Not likely, you can easily get 2$ a roll for wheats on EBAY, so why would someone sell them back to the bank at face. This is someone's old hoard that got cashed in by folks who didn't know better.

One more thing to the OP. Who is to say that there was only 1 box to the hoard. The bank may have gotten more. I would waiting for them to open the bank door tomorrow morning.

You could probably sell them as a mixed bag for at least $80 on eBay.

For common date wheaties? I'm pretty sure they're likely legit.

I am not watching the whole video, but the rolls look just like the ones WalMart sells... nothing special. Being as you are in Canada, its likely that someone had been setting old US cents aside, then for whatever reason just took them to the bank. Some do the same here with old Canadian cents. It's not uncommon.

Seriously?? You honestly think the Chinese are going to "flood the market" with fake wheat cents at face value?

It might be a lottery find, but a transitional 58 wheatie with the lincoln memorial reverse would be amazing. Same with a 59 with the wheat stalks on the reverse. You never know!

Thanks everyone for the comments! Sorry I can't respond to them all. I think some of you guys are right, must be a collection that someone brought back without knowing what exactly was in it. Also should note that I got another box with this one from the same bank (I usually get two a week) and that one was just like the ones I always get, about 40% Canadian copper pennies. Right now I think I'll just hold on to them for a while, thanks for the ideas though.

Also, special thanks to everyone that posted key dates! Will definitely be on the look for those. As well, the rolls might look weird cause after I opened the first five, I took a peek into all the rest and just quickly pushed the ends down
