No, not where the outcome is rigged by someone. You know if you get a silver half or something you will get other coins that are worthless like a 2012 shield cent or nickel, something you can find in circulation easily. I have wind up with whole rolls of uncirculated coins when roll searching.
Not much any more. Unless it is a new release of a unknown hoard, you can be mostly assured that someone has already evaluated it as being unworthy to crack out for a possibly better grade. So being an old coin shop deal or whatever, I would not value them any more unless I could have them in hand to grade. Most undergraded OGH have already been cracked and resubmitted. IMO.
Being that this guy also has a past in selling "unsearched rolls" of Wheat cents, I wouldn't even consider gambling on his listing... -Brian
wow! look at this one! and i am not in any way bashing this guy or questioning his integrity, btw. for all i know, you could get a bag full of morgans. http://www.ebay.com/itm/280707329923#ht_3664wt_1033
Not to me, I am not interested in a 2012 shield cent, nickel, or dime-- slabbed or not, especially since I dumped tons of them in a coin machine. I think I am thinking of a slabbed coin though and don't really know what an OGH is, does it have something to do with a hoard? As far as gambling, I know that I seen IHCs and V nickels being sold for $1 where you are given a random coin and I wouldn't even buy one of those even for $1. I will pay another $1 and see the common IHC or V Nickel I am purchasing. I see one person is a real gambler, they bought 10.
i thought ogh stood for original government holder, not original green holder. i always called them rattlers.
i emailed him to ask how the slabbed coins were picked for each lot, and got a robo response: Hi, Thank you for your interest in our product. Our policy is to send out random mixes of PCGS graded coins. We deal in volume so it is not possible to individualize each mailing. However, you can expect to receive uncirculated coins that are at least graded MS60. There is a chance one or more may be higher; silver coins may or may not be included. We hope this answers your question and remember, we have a money back guarantee.
Sorry, I was a little hazy. Occasionally a big collector ( usually older) may decide to give up his collection or he died, and there maybe PCGS OGH ( Original green holders or rattlers due to the loose fit of the coin in the slab)coins that have not been seen by other collectors for decades. When this hoard comes to market, many will bid high as they know ( or unfortunately hope) that no one has cherrypicked the possibly undergraded coins ( as the general concensus is the grading in the OGH time was more strict than later. Once a hoard goes to a dealer or go-between, you can bet the "goodies" are cracked and on the way to PCGS or NGC. The ones they sell still slabbed will be normal grade and pricing~~ at least to me. That tells me there's just 1019 definite idiots out there. No pun intended if any of those idiots are reading this post.
He has a money back guarantee. Return postage wouldn't be that much one 3 slabs. I sure wouldn't want to test my luck and end up with 3 new shiny cents though.
