The writer should get a pay cut until they learn to do research before writing.

What he has is a generic wedding token. It was designed by Pingret but there is no telling who made it. It was NOT struck in the New Orleans Mint. The names a date must be on the edge because they are not on the obv or rev. The area on the reverse was so the inportant information could be engraved there by a jeweler. In this case they decided to engrave their initials there and have the names and date put on the edge. It's pretty much the equivilent of buying a silver round and taking it to your local jewler and having it engraved as a memento of your wedding. If they lived here he might be able to do some tracking through the old census records, but since it says they are from France they may never have been here at all and it might be something inherited and you may not ever be able to track them down.
