Oh, I've just found something else interesting. In the second two cases I mentioned above, the sellers had no or very little feedback. They both got NARU'd; apparently you get only one strike as a new user, if your swing is wild enough. The first guy -- the Vietnam vet, who suddenly decided that the honorable thing for a vet to do was to pass unmarked Chinese counterfeits as real coins -- was also NARU'd, but that's because a whole slew of us reported him in a very short span, and he continued to list unmarked fakes even after being called on it. But when I went back to check my Resolution Center records, I saw that his ID was different now -- and, as of this May, one year after the Late Unpleasantness, he's apparently back in eBay's good graces. Since the negs were more than a year ago, his feedback rating is back to 100%, and he's merrily selling. No coins, and it looks like he's keeping his nose clean, but I really didn't think eBay ever reactivated accounts after an episode like that. I'd never heard of a one-year vacation. Maybe I'll call up Customer Support and ask about it... but not tonight.
I had 5 cases against the same guy since I purchased 5 items they had to all be opened separately. The other one was with a seller and myself both agreed he should issue a refund since the USPS lost a package. Thankfully the package has been found and is in transit to me.
I did and he responded, so now we have to wait the 72 hrs for customer support to make a decision. I hope this goes in my favor, I've never had a case involving he said she said blah blah. My other cases involved the wording of a listing which was ruled in my favor and the other one was just me and the seller agreeing on a refund.
Well, I will be the first, but I will say "Buyer beware" Look at this cliping from an enlarged image of the "sliver quarters" Right here is enough to keep me from spending cash with the guy, and might win your case for you. I personaly don't and can't have an ebay account(not 18 or whatever the limit is) and yes, I would look this close, as $80 would be a MASSIVE purchase for me. Anyway the image shows a 1965 (not silver) quarter and a 1967 quarter (not in his date range). With the message he sent you stating there were none outside his range of 65-34, this could be very, very useful. You can thank me later
I wouldn't have bought this lot since it states 1965 quarters were included. They could give you a few silver quarters a 1934 and four 1964s and the rest could be 1965s worth face value. That would give you a value of $20 + (37 * .25) = $29.25 and charge you $90 for it and it would meet the description. The quarters you got did not meet the description and you should file for buyer protection. I do see that the quarters shown in the picture are silver and you were mislead. You also have to think about the fact that nobody else bid and they always bid on silver. I have never won a silver auction where I bid under melt but have won one for a few cents over melt on a couple 40%ers.
very fishy auction youve got to watch these things i havent gotten silver from ebay yet since theres a silver store here in ludington mi. he could have given you 40 1965 quarters and 1 silver i like lots that list the dates so you know what your geting. since 41 silver quarters are around $207 i bet you were hopping he didnt know what he had and you got screwed because of that
That is what I am thinking too, that he was expecting a super deal that nobody bid but he was mislead instead. I had the same thing happen to me at Amazon with a gram gold bar that the seller claimed was solid gold but was gold plated. I got my money back though. Nobody else bid because of the fact that the auction says 1932-1965 instead of 1964.
It was a BIN. He probably bought it pretty soon after it was listed. It would have gone quick even without him.
Ebay has issued me a shipping label and I'll be returning the quarters today. I don't think I'll be doing much BIN due to recent events, I'll just stick to selling stuff from estate sales.
I dropped the heavy hammer on him, as redic as this may sound... I filmed me counting out the 41 quarters + packaging them so he can't say I didnt send him 41 back.
agreed, the picture shows silver, and (I believe) stock photos are not allowed. Also, even tho he wrote Sliver, we believed that he mean silver.
Ah, but did you film yourself opening the original package and counting out the 41 clad quarters (instead of the 9 silver and 32 clad he claimed to have sent)? Filming yourself opening or sealing packages might seem over-the-top, but that's what I did when I got that "double eagle" paperweight. The transaction seemed suspicious from the beginning, and I figured I'd better cover myself thoroughly. As it turned out, I didn't need the proof, but better to have it and not need it...
I see your point about filming myself opening the package, well good news this is over with. I hope this doesn't happen again.
