Hey all, As a reminder this is the coin (a proof 1964 Kennedy in the plastic): and this is the link to the post: http://www.cointalk.com/t208912/ For those in a hurry and don't wish to read further... this coin had no premium. If any of you aren't members of CONECA or haven't used the attribution/examination service (I'm speaking to those like me who are lacking experience/knowledge), this is a great resource. Membership is $25 a year and buys you 6 magazines and discounted attribution/examination services (they even sent me a 1960-D/D RMP-003 with my first magazine!) In addition to receiving my coins back, I received a letter of explanation. For the coins (the other was a cent that also had no premium): "Master Die Doubled Obverse (MDO). Almost all 1964 Kennedy halves have doubling on IN GOD WE TRUST because of a doubled master die. Good pick up on the splits in the serifs on the G, W, and Y. This is what you are looking for. Except when it's a master die doubled die. You can check the CONECA master listing website above. It has listings for all known MDOs. No premium value." In my OP, Larry Nienaber suggested looking at the Master listing, but I didn't really understand what that was (again, lacking knowledge and experience... and not really sure I'd understand what I read). Overall, for the money spent, this was a good experience. I was educated and I had a 2nd set of eyes to give me a sanity/reality check. Thanks to all who responded to the OP, I'm always learning something new from your posts. Many thanks, JohnT
John, Glad you had a good experience with CONECA, the attribution services and you enjoy the Errorscope Magazine.. its important to all of the CONECA Leadership team to hear stuff like this.. (Mind if I pass it along?) Jim
The Board at CONECA all have a copy of this thread in their emails. Thanks John. We are firing up a state rep program and the membership chairman would certainly like to hear from CONECA members that could help out.. (hint hint)
