I have been trying to figure out how someone can remove the outer layer of this 1967 dime and leave the copper core. (or it appears to be anyway). It is a deep chocolate brown in color like a penny including the edge. I measured it and it is 17.9mm in diameter. Unable to weigh it at this time. Or is this something else all together? 2nd is PMD 1999 dime ... but... what could somebody possibly have done to get it to look like this? And....why?(other than stupidity) Thanks in advance for any and all comments guys & gals! Y'all are great and I love this site! I read more than comment/post because I'm too new to put my 2cents worth in on any subject...but I'm learning!

Welcome to the forum!! I don't think either dime has had the nickel clad removed. The color is within the corrosion range, especially if there is a chance it was in contact with soil. Jim
Thanks for the comments. Found them in a roll of dimes. Not planning on hanging on to them...just wanted some input on them. I don't think the 1999 dime had nickel clad removed. The ripple in the face to the L in Liberty is the PMD I was posting about on that one. It's raised on the front...was trying to figure out what someone might have done to it to get it to look like that.
