    Hello,

Just check out ebay and see what they're going for. You can get all kinds of values from different sources but if you want to know what people are giving for them currently just head for ebay.

they are more or less common ($25ish) except for the 2001 which is worth about $125

Why would the 2001 Clad PF Set be worth $125???

No good reason. Believe it or not it's probably mostly fallout from the inflated value of the 2001 silver sets. Mintage aren't that much below the cheaper sets around them. Usually when this happens the price eventually collapses, but it often takes a little over ten years to do so. The 1979 non-type II sets were pulled way up for that reason. For a long time they were running around $25 -$29 because of the type II sets. After about ten years they dropped back down to around issue price and for awhile not too long ago they dropped to as low as $5. The 1975 set jumped way up because of the 1975-S cent, the first proof only cent. The cent alone reached $35 and it stayed up for about ten years then plummetted. I think the set is in the $7 - $10 range today. The 1995 proof set used to be very high touching $125. I think they are on their way down now as I have senn them in the $65 - $75 range.

    Condor,

Are the coin dealers, who purchase bulk and then sit on them hoping demand will give them the big profit margin causing most of this huge increase? Specially when the public does buy big from the mint that year.

because the 2001 proof Sac is worth $100+ since it is considered the key coin to the Sac set. Since there is no difference in the Sac in the clad and silver sets the price of the 01S Sac is driving the price of both sets more or less equally.

in general dealers make their money on the margin, not on sitting on inventory in the hopes that it will increase in price.

    Thanks

Thanks everyone for all the info. Now I have another question... I want to get the 2001 sac dollar graded but don't know how to go about it. What's the best grading company & should I crack it out of the set and send it in?

My question to you would be why do you want to get it graded ? It will cost you $25 - $30 to do so and that is just less money you will recieve as profit if you are wishing to sell it. You can sell the set for the same amount without getting it graded if that is your desire.

But if you just want it graded, then send it to NGC or PCGS for grading. Easiest and cheapest way to do that is by having your dealer send it for you.

Thank you GDJMSP you have a very good point there :) . I'll just leave it in the mint packaging.
