Ships on coins...

I know it's an old thread but here is my newest:

By the way, Denmark has almost completed its series of 20 kroner coins (circulating commems) depicting ships. Eleven pieces have been issued; the last one will follow this fall.

Attached is an image of the "Hjejlen" coin. The Hjejlen is the world's oldest paddle steamer in operation, and while these coins do not necessarily commemorate specific events, this one came out last year, in time for the ship's 150th anniversary.

Ships have been a coin favorite for a very long time. Here is the Nymph Histiaea on the bow of a Greek galley. Circa 196-146 BC. Eubola League.
