PCGS just announced that it has a new multi holder...

    I kinda like it...

I'm sure this is just a mock up... but that'd be a heck of a sample slab to own...

It looks super cheesy to me for some reason. At first I thought it was a joke. I would consider getting my 2 Columbian Expo Comms in that but thats it. I don't really see the use and storage will be a pain

Works great with coins that are more marketable as a set. I've seen the 5 coin slabs and think they're neat. However, for the sake of uniformity, you can't put just anything in these.

I think the 5 is nice and like when NGC put the 2006 eagle set in them, but this just looks awkward and unusable to me.

I'll buy 'em when I know no body else is...

Because, who knows... It could be like the next "Doily" or "Regency" holder. :p

I kinda like it, especially for some of the 2-coin commemorative sets I have. Would be nice to have both coins from the same set in one holder, to keep them together.

Matt, do you know if this new slab is "live", as in something you can purchase and request right now?

I think it was just announced at the ANA... So I'd guess it's live.

I like the concept, but to me having two labels makes the slab look cluttered and unbalanced.

I for see a lot of colorful Morgan twins in these

  12. I like it too Matt. However, the registry purists will not like it as all slabs must be exactly the same for some OC folks. TC

You could do mintmark sets, like Philadelphia or Denver. I guess they'll have to make wider boxes for these slabs:p

I like it Matt, wish I had a sample slab like that.
It would make a great article piece
    All the best

It sort of makes me think of Siamese twins. I can't say I am likin' it

While I do like the design, I think storage would become an issue. And especially to the OCD coin collectors who like everything uniform. Having odd sized slabs due to amount of coins is not appeasing.

I can see how they could be nice for a situation of putting 1909 Indian and a 1909 wheat, a '38 Jefferson and a '38 Buffalo. I don't see this practical for 2 completely different coins though.

Perfect for those split planchet error coins, whereby you need two slabs for what was a single coin.

I don't see much coming of it considering it doesn't look as good as their old multi-coin holders which they never promoted and alternated back and forth between acknowledging and denying ever having made.

Are there any rules regarding PCGS slabbing coins together? It rationally makes sense (as discussed above) to place a 1909 Indian Head and a 1909 Wheatie together.... but what if I wanted to put a beat-up 1978 Kennedy together with a pristine 1870 Sitting Liberty Quarter? For no other reason than I'm the one paying for the slabbing?

    Seems silly to me.
