i was just wondering if anybody here likes to collect the westward journey nickels. there is a free folder in the 2007 whitman red book if anyone's interested. i collect them because they only make one or two designs every year. you never know, they might be scarce in circulation someday. i also like the designs they picked out for them.

They happen to be the only coinage made in the past 70 years that i like. I have 2 of them in MS-69 PCGS certified.

    Westward Journey Series

I have several bags & rolls, mostly the bison type. I've been having a lot of fun looking for varieties. I'm using a microscope as it's easier on the eyes. I have carded hundreds of doubled dies (machine doubling I think), wounded (not speared) and some other oddities.

Email me if you want to discuss. It hasn't been easy finding a lot of info on the varieties in this series. Like you, I am trying to decide what's worth hanging on to. My plan is to send some of these oddities to Coinworld for an opinion.

Valuable or not, it's great fun and a good way to learn about varieties in this series.

I sent in for that only becaue it is free. Unfortunately I hate all Jefferson Nickels and refuse to collect any of the new ones. I have about 6 Whitman Classic Albums full of those things and only collected them because I have a bad habit of collecting everything. When the new ones came out I stopped collecting Nickels.
