I was just wondering if your coin sales have slowed down. I am a fairly new seller and seems sales hit the wall. I am trying to figure out why. My first thoughts are its the summer months and many collectors are off on vacation. My next thought is that with the rising price of gas, its taking its toll on peoples money for collectibles and fun stuff...and with the Alaskian pipeline problem and the talk of even higher prices, I think our coin sales are all going to be at a standstill for a while. I know I am getting tired of paying $50 to fill up my car and am cutting back on some things, so I have t conclude that is the number one reason why coin sales or any other hobby is going on the back burner. I guess I have to just hold on to my inventory for a while and see how and when things are going to turn around. How do you feel about this?
I'm 12 and have no car, but its effecting my parents-another $100 down the drain per week=1 5k vacation a year lost
I can't comment generally but I can note that around here (Western NY) there is kind of a summer hiatus. My local shop isn't that busy at the moment. Things should pick up again in September, or at least that's what I am told.
Many things slow down in August. Big month for summer vacations and people trying to get in the last summer activities before Sept.
High energy prices are reducing discretionary income. Many coin prices have increased a lot over the past few years. The market just might be saying they are overpriced.
I havent spent a whole lot on my collection lately. I just recycle the coins that I can sell for a profit and get new ones. Keeps me busy and happy lol.
I rarely EVER list anything on ebay during the summer months but actually do a LOT of buying during the summer to try to snag a bargain here and there and many times I'll relist the same item during Nov-Mar and make a little profit on the item. I guess people don't want to overwork their poor tired out in the sun mailpersons during these hot dog days of summer..lol... I plan to list everything but the kitchen sink this fall and winter as my goal in collecting is to do away with all my raw coins and only have about 2 large bank boxes of slabbed coins. Seems they will be much easier for my family to dispose of when I kick the bucket on down the road or should things turn sour in my finances, for me to dispose of in the future.
