I saw this gem while just surfing Ebay, and pronounce it to be one of the most mutilated coins in terms of cleaning, whizzing, and general abuse to make it shiny. Post your own favorite "demolition derby" coin.

So far I've seen three coins that I would be proud to own.

No doubt. I thought this was going to be about ABUSED coins. I don't have a pic right now, but I have a Byzantine that was struck, overstruck, quartered, struck, and then overstruck again.

THAT little piece of metal has been abused, but its not terribly rare for a Byzantine coin.

I'm curious. How do you know all of the damage to this coin was caused by cleaning? The coin looks circulated to me. So I would think all of the nicks and scratches were just from general use. Is it simply the fact that it is clean that bothers you?

Look at the date and look at how shiny it is. It was cleaned, and rather harshly--scratches in the fields and across the devices, and whirl marks indicating a whizzing. It is such a classic example of the over-cleaned, harshly shiny coins of its era that I was tempted to buy it for the BIN of $75 just as a reminder of how much coins of this period used to be mistreated.

Lol, looks like CBH's you can find at every coin show.

Yes, it was harshly cleaned, no way a coin that old is that bright, I guess its just a lot of us are used to them. :)
