Hi folks, so I posted this in the "What's it worth" forum, but I wanted to get an opinion about a possible error on my 1858 Flying Eagle cent. I can't tell if the M is PMD or a true error. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

looks like the M has taken a couple of little hits after it left the mint.

It's still PMD... Relatively minor hits, so don't worry about it.

Thanks for all of the replies, any thoughts on the grade? I'm thinking about having it graded, but I'm not sure of its worth it. I'm pretty new to all this :)

I would guess XF-40 or 45. The image makes it look cleaned. Post some more images when you can.

My initial feeling was Ch VF, but upon a second look it does appear to have EF details. I also agree on the likely cleaning.

As for slabbing, no... it's value does not justify the expense. All things considered, doing so would be flushing money down the toilet.
