Dramatic MD can be cool, but milk spots are definitely NOT COOL!!

  4. That's what I thought as well. No spots at all. Here are some quick pics of the MD. TC

I like the way the MD also shows proof polishing (push type MD). I've read where MD is caused by a loose die (hammer or anvil) and I've also read where MD is caused by the use of too much pressure. Does anyone have the definitive answer?

Speaking of QC, I noticed the S mint mark on my RP isn't "shiny" it looks the same as the S mint mark on the regular proof. Also looking with a 5X loupe I noticed little tiny shiny spots on my RP in the frosted fields. Are they due to handling, poor shipping? I'll try to get some photo's but I don't have a camera good enough to get the type of shots TC does.

From the picture on TC's coin, it appears the mintmark is not of the shiny condition either. My eyes may be tricking me though.

Anyway, I don't think the doubling detracts from anything at all on that coin.

Any mechanical issue at the time of striking can cause MD.
